Privacy Policy

Shane Turrell Garden Zone (shaneturrell.co.uk) is a gardening blog, and this policy explains what little personal information we come across while running it, and how we treat it.

Information We Collect

We keep data collection to a minimum. The main ways we might come across information about you are:

  • Site analytics. Like most websites, we use analytics tools to understand traffic patterns — roughly how many people read a given article, which browsers and devices are common among our readers, and which countries visitors come from. This is aggregate, statistical information, not a personal file built around an individual reader.
  • Contact and comments. If you email us, use a contact form, or leave a comment on an article, we'll see whatever details you choose to include, typically your name and email address. We use this only to reply to you or to publish your comment, and don't add it to any marketing list without your separate consent.
  • Cookies. Some basic information is stored via cookies, covered in full in our separate Cookie Policy.

How We Use It

Any information we collect is used strictly to run and improve the site: responding to your messages, moderating comments, understanding which gardening topics our readers want more of, and keeping the site technically sound. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it with third parties except where a service we rely on (such as our hosting provider or analytics tool) needs it to perform that specific function on our behalf.

Affiliate and Third-Party Links

Several of our articles link out to gardening retailers and tool suppliers, and some of those links are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking through — at no extra cost to you. We only recommend products we genuinely rate. Once you leave our site via one of these links, the destination site's own privacy practices apply, and we'd recommend reviewing their policy separately.

Copyright and Takedown Requests

We respect the intellectual property of other creators and expect the same courtesy from anyone referencing our work. All original articles, photography, and guides on this site are our own unless credited otherwise beneath the relevant image or passage.

If you believe that material on shaneturrell.co.uk infringes a copyright you hold, please send us a written notice that includes:

  • your signature (physical or electronic);
  • a description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed;
  • the specific page or material on our site you believe infringes it, with enough detail for us to locate it;
  • your contact details (address, phone number, and email);
  • a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn't authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  • a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you're the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.

On receiving a valid notice, we'll review the material promptly and remove or amend it where the claim is well-founded. Please note that knowingly submitting a false claim can expose you to liability for any resulting costs or damages.

Data Retention and Security

We keep contact and comment information only as long as it's needed for the purpose it was collected for, and we take reasonable technical precautions to protect it from unauthorised access. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security of any information you send us.

Your Choices

You can ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete it — for example, removing a comment or contact-form submission from our records. Just get in touch and we'll action reasonable requests promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in how the site operates or to keep pace with good practice. Any updates will be posted on this page, so please check back from time to time if you'd like to stay informed.
